Tata Steel recognised as a Gold Employer by India Workplace Equality Index 2025 for the fifth consecutive year

Mumbai, December 19, 2025

~ Highlights Company’s continuous commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and progressive workplace ~

Mumbai, December 19, 2025: Tata Steel has been recognised as a Gold Employer by the India Workplace Equality Index (IWEI) 2025 for the fifth consecutive year, reaffirming the Company’s unwavering commitment to LGBT+ inclusion and its broader vision of building an equitable workplace for all.

With more than 100 organisations participating in the 6th edition of the IWEI Summit & Awards, Tata Steel’s recognition as a Gold Employer reflects the Company’s continued efforts in embedding diversity and inclusion across its policies, talent systems, leadership practices, and internal and external engagement.

Atrayee Sanyal, Chief People Officer, Tata Steel Group, said, “This recognition reinforces Tata Steel’s position as one of India’s most progressive employers – one that goes beyond compliance to prioritise empathy, equity, and empowerment. We believe a diverse workforce is a strategic enabler of innovation, and we remain committed to ensuring every employee feels seen, heard, and valued.”

Tata Steel deepened its commitment to inclusion through several pioneering milestones, including the launch of the world’s first all-women shift in mining operations at Noamundi; the induction of an all-women firefighting crew in Jamshedpur - a first in the Indian steel sector; and the deployment of women employees across all three shifts in Kalinganagar.

The Company has enhanced its Parental Benefit Policy for equitable caregiving and for providing strengthened support to eligible employees. This ensures that caregiving responsibilities are recognised as shared and integral to employee wellbeing. Equally, Tata Steel’s Gender Reassignment Policy enables compassionate and confidential access to gender affirmation support for employees.

Tata Steel’s DE&I journey began a decade ago in 2015 with MOSAIC, driving inclusion across women, LGBTQIA+, affirmative action, and persons with disabilities through five pillars: sensitisation, infrastructure, recruitment, retention & development, and celebrations.

The India Workplace Equality Index is the country’s first comprehensive benchmarking tool designed to measure employers’ progress on LGBT+ inclusion across nine key areas, including policies and benefits, employee lifecycle, leadership, and community engagement.
