Pioneering Today.
Envisioning Tomorrow.

163 levels, 829.8 metres tall, a benchmark for skyscrapers - the Burj Khalifa is a triumph of human ingenuity. Installed at the very top of this iconic structure, Tata Steel's ComFlor® 80 composite floor decking has played a part in making this engineering monument possible. Elevating today for tomorrow.

More than 4000m2 of ComFlor® 80 composite floor decking was installed at the very top of Burj Khalifa, Dubai, officially the world’s tallest building!

The long span capabilities of ComFlor® 80 reduced the number of structural steel components and consequently generated savings in the overall construction cost.

The benefits of using ComFlor® 80 were so enticing, that the client preferred it over a 76mm deep deck that was initially specified for the job.

Did You Know?

The ComFlor® 80 composite floor decking at the Burj consists of 2 steel sheets with a honeycomb hexagonal sheet of aluminium sandwiched between. This type of flooring reduces the total weight of the structure and the necessity for piling to go further below.

On my first day at work in Dubai, I was excited to meet my colleagues and start fresh in the new position that I had just secured. I couldn’t contain my pride when I blurted out to my peers, “I can even see the Burj Khalifa from my window”. It took me a while to realize that this was true for nearly everyone living in Dubai.
