Tata Steel Organizes World Disability Day
~Urban Services, Tata Steel steps forward for the welfare of disabled on Disability Day~
The Urban Services Department of Tata Steel organized World Disability Day, on 3rd December 2011 at Armoury Ground, Jamshedpur. It was organized with the objective to help the disabled integrate into society by ironing out the impediment in their lives. The event was a culmination of over 20 events with 200 participants of various age groups from 24 different NGOs across Jamshedpur.
Mr Ravi Shanker Pandey , Senior Manager, Urban Services said the specially abled should have moral to compete with zest equal to a normal child and should not feel discarded within the purview of society. He added that the main motive of behind organizing such an event was to make the participants feel that they are as capable as others and are not hampered by any way on comparison with others.
An overwhelmed Dr (Air Marshall Retired) S Mahapatra, Chief, Medical Services, Tata Main Hospital, the Chief Guest for the occasion, showed his gratitude and thanked for the quality time he had spent at the programme. He further added that most of the children participating at the programme were not disabled but were far more abled than us on the grounds of their thinking. He highly appreciated the efforts and courage of the participants and the parents alike.
The programme concluded with the prizes distribution ceremony and a mesmerizing cultural programme by the special children.
