Keeping a close watch on Ms Premlata Agarwal's journey to the summit

Jamshedpur, May 07, 2011

Dawa Stephen Sherpa, Expedition Leader for the Mt Everest expedition states, “At the moment, Premlata is doing very well and has acclimatized strongly. She is now ready for the final "summit push". I am currently monitoring the weather very closely to see a possible weather window. The monitoring team has tentatively marked down the 13th of May as the summit date, but that depends on the weather (the weather has been very erratic this year and our forecasts have had a difficult time staying accurate).

On the summit push she will go from BC (18000ft) to C2 (22000 ft) on May 9 , rest a day in C2 on May 10, Climb to C3 (23000ft where she will start using oxygen) May 11, the following day May 12, she will climb to C4 (South Col 26000 ft) and rest the entire afternoon. At 10pm she will leave Camp 4 towards the summit and climb throughout the night, with the aim to stand on the top around 8am the next morning May 13.
