Tata Steel wins FIMI's Environment Award 2001-2002
Tata Steel today won the prestigious Gem Graphite Environment Award 2001-2002 of Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI) at a ceremony held at Park Royal in New Delhi.
The award has been conferred on Tata Steel's Joda East Iron Ore Mine in recognition of the leading role played by the mine in conserving and improving the environment.
This award is presented annually to encourage mining units to preserve and improve the environment and to develop a healthy competition among them. FIMI recognises that the national goal of sustainable development involves scientific mining encompassing planning, protection and regeneration of environment and conservation and rational or optimum utilization of natural resources.
Mr G S Dhar, General Manager (Ore, Mines & Quarries), Tata Steel, has received the award on behalf of the Steel Company.
