Watch the Founder's Day 2022 Celebrations from Jamshedpur

Born on March 3, 1839, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata envisioned projects that laid the foundation for our country’s development. These institutions continue to set the pace for others even today. An industrialist, yes; but even more a pioneer and a visionary who cared deeply for people and for our country.

Jamsetji’s vision would inspire the steel, power and hospitality industries. It would help introduce new and experimental technology, create policies for addressing worker welfare, and set the foundation for scientific education. His efforts propelled our country into the league of industrialised nations and showed the world what India could achieve. Jamsetji though, is remembered above all, for his philanthropy.

In setting up our steel plant at Jamshedpur (then Sakchi), he was faced with several hurdles. It was only because of his determination that the venture came to fruition. Though he died eight years before the first ingot of steel was rolled out from Tata Steel Jamshedpur, his spirit continues to live on and inspire us to work towards a better tomorrow – a tomorrow we deserve.

On his 183rd Birth Anniversary, we celebrate Life@TataSteel today, and everyday!
