Tata Volunteering Week 6 witnesses active engagement from employees

Tata Steel has launched Tata Volunteering Week 6, a series of community welfare programmes at Jamshedpur. The initiative marks a month-long activity program under the Tata Engage Programme, a Tata Group Initiative.

Tata Engage is a volunteering programme aimed at encouraging the Tata Group employees around the globe to get involved in community welfare activities.The various activities that were undertaken as a part of this initiative at Jamshedpur are as follows:

Aviation Department

A team from Aviation Department of Tata Steel organised a competition on “Best out of Waste” for mothers of students of Bal Vikash Classes at Bhalubasa Community Centre on September 9, 2016. The concept of this competition was to develop some useful material with the help of waste materials.

Human Resource Department JDC

A team of employees from Human Resource Management JDC visited Utkramit Vidyalaya, Sakchi on September 14, 2016. They also visited Sakchi High School, Sakchi, Jamshedpur and organized a drawing competition for the students. A cleanliness drive was also organised by the team in Aambagan Area in Sakchi

Medical services JDC

A team of volunteers from Medical Services JDC organised a visit to Sanjeevani School, Birsa Bustee, Adarsh Nagar, Sonari for survey of needs of the children on September 15, 2016. Approximate 50 children including parents were present at there.  The assessment was successfully organized under the guidance of Dr Rajan Chaudhry, General Manager Medical Services, Mrs. Raksha Choudhary, wife of GM, Medical Services, Dr. D P Samaddar, Chief of Medical Indoor Services,

Shared services Technology Group

A team of employees from Shared Services Technology Group (SSTG), Tata Steel visited Primary School of Patipani on September 20, 2016. Mr. Ved Prakash Thakur, Chief Shared Services Technology Group and other employees of SSTG interacted with the children. The volunteers collectively bought some bench and desk for the needy children which were donated to the school.

Process Technology Group

A team of employees from Process Technology Group, Tata Steel visited Primary School, Bahuridih, Karandih, Jamshedpur on September 20, 2016. Mrs. Adity Ganguly, Head Process Visulation & Diagnostic Tech and other employees of Process Technology Group interacted with the children. A cricket match was conducted by the volunteers for the children. The volunteers collectively bought gifts like pen, pencil box, crayons, notebook, biscuit, football, badminton, cricket kit, durry which were distributed amongst the children.

CRM Bara

The JDC members & employees of CRM Bara, Tata Steel organised visit of 50 children & 4 Teachers of ‘Primary Utkarmit Vidyalya’ Lalbhatta Gwala Basti, Agrico,  to the Tata Steel Zoological Park and Jubliee Park on September 20, 2016 .

Tubes Division

The employees visited the Tulsi Chaabi Public School, Asanboni School on 23rd September, 2016.   During the visit employees and children planted different saplings inside the school campus.  They collectively bought and distributed materials like notebooks, stationery items, chocolates, etc to nearly 140 students.

Security Department

A blood donation drive was organised by the department on 21st September 2016 at Blood Bank, Jamshedpur. Employees actively participated in the drive and a total of 40 blood units were donated.

Finance and Accounts

More than 40 Employees of Finance and Accounts Division volunteered their services for organising various activities in Changira village of Jamshedpur Block on September 25, 2016. The day started with medical check-up of all the villagers especially the mothers and small children. Talks were delivered on various health and hygiene issues and also on the importance of education and staying healthy. The team distributed mosquito nets for protection from malaria and dengue.The team also conducted a financial management session for the bread earners of the village and educated them on the importance of opening a bank account and savings for the future.The team also participated in a friendly football match with the youth of the village and distributed jerseys to the football team of Changira.The team assured that they would provide all necessary support and help for the development of the students and the school as well as the village and help them live a respectful and sustainable life.  The day ended in a happy note with children and villagers saying thank you and goodbye.

Engineering and Projects Division

Employees of Engineering & Projects department spent the day with underprivileged children of Primary School, Burudih on September 27, 2016. Children welcomed the team and in the Indian tradition greeted them with folded hand and flowers with the villagers playing the drums. Representatives of village handed flower bouquet to each volunteer.During its last visit, the team had committed to provide benches & desks to the school. Volunteers provided 16 benches and desks to school, where the children could study safely.Santosh Ranjan, Chief Projects Utilities, Jyoti Prakash, Chief Budgeting Compliance Monitoring, and other employees of Engineering & Projects interacted with the children and gave a motivational speech where they motivated parents and children towards education.

They thoroughly enjoyed their time and participated enthusiastically assisting and ensured their continuous presence to school.
