Tata Steel observes 161st Hul Divas
Tata Steel today observed the 161 st Hul Divas with impressive cultural performances at Sidhu Kanhu Chand Bhairav Society, Doladih, Potka. Community level celebrations witnessed local tribal artiste’s rendering a string of traditional dance and song performances at the event
Tata Steel officials along with members of the Santhal community paid rich tributes to Sidhu and Kanhu, and remembered their contribution to the 1855 uprising of tribals against the colonial rule and zamindars.
Moreover, in remembrance of the two tribal martyrs, Tribal Cultural Society (TCS) also held competitions in various schools on June 25, 2016 and June 28, 2016. Drawing and essay competitions based on the life of the martyr brothers were held at three schools—Sidhu Kanhu School, Kedo; Sidhu Kanhu Memorial High School, Bagantola; and Sidhu Kanhu Siksha Niketan, Dimna. Around 400 students showed their creativity by participating in the school-level competitions.
Hul Divas marks the contribution of tribal martyrs Sidhu and Kanhu. The two brothers sacrificed their lives while fighting for the country’s independence.
