Indira Priyadarshini Vrikshamitra Award for Tata Steel Mines Division

Tata  Steel's  Noamundi Iron Mine (NIM), has been conferred with the prestigious Indira  Priyadarshini Vrikshamitra Award 2000 by The National Afforestation & Eco-Development  Board   under  Ministry of Environment & Forest, Government of India in a function organised at Ravindra Kalashektra, Bangalore on 16th September, 2002.

NIM, having iron ore reserve of Dharawar age, is supplying high grade iron ore to the steel behemoth's plant at Jamshedpur in East Singhbhum district of   Jharkhand. Established  in1925,   NIM is one of  the   biggest and fully-mechanised  iron ore mines in the state of Jharkhand and is certified under Environmental Management System- ISO 14001:1996 standards.

Environmental Management efforts of the NIM have been acclaimed in national and international  forums. Awards like Gem Granite Environmental Award, Sitaram Rungta  Social Awareness  Award, State Pollution Control Board awards, were conferred on NIM in the last couple of years.

Looking ahead, NIM is all poised to ensure safety and environmental sustainability by  implementing company's VISION 2007, the road map to the centenary year of the company.
