Founder’s Day: Tata Steel pays homage to JN Tata on his 184th birth anniversary

~ The theme of this year’s Founder's Day is “Greennovation-Make Tomorrow Green” ~

Tata Steel today paid homage to its Founder Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, also regarded as the legendary ‘Father of Indian Industry’ on his 184th Birth Anniversary. Celebrated as the Founder’s Day, the flagship event happens every year at Jamshedpur on March 3 to pay tributes to the founder’s vision of an industrial future with community welfare at its core.

The theme of this year’s celebrations is Geennovation - Make Tomorrow Green”.

The event in Jamshedpur today was graced by Noel N Tata, Vice Chairman, Tata Steel and T V Narendran, CEO & MD, Tata Steel. Other senior company officials, as well as Union members, were also present during the occasion. The event started with paying homage to the Founder at the Works Main Gate by Vice Chairman, senior officials, Union members, Group company officials and citizens of Jamshedpur.

In his address to the citizens of Jamshedpur at Bistupur Postal Park, Noel N Tata said:  “Today we celebrate the pioneering spirit of our Founder, who spearheaded the founding of this inspiring city, as well as successive generations of leaders, each of whom played a key role in nation-building – not only in industrialisation but also in community support.

Noel N Tata also visited Tata Workers’ Union office, besides Steelennium Hall where exhibition on this year’s theme ‘Geennovation’ was organised. The Vice Chairman also visited iROC (Integrated Remote Operations Centre) and technical exhibition at SNTI - Tech-Ex 2023. The Vice Chairman also met senior office bearers of Tata Workers’ Union today.

On March 2, 2023, various projects were inaugurated by Noel N Tata in the presence of T V Narendran. These projects included Jamshedpur Nature Trail, COVID Warrior Park, Agni structure among others. He also inaugurated the illumination at the Founder's Statue in Jubilee Park.

The Founder’s Day celebrations were also organised at other locations and offices of Tata Steel across the country including Kalinganagar, Meramandali and Raw Materials locations in Jharkhand and Odisha.  

Tata Steel Sports Division organised various sporting activities on March 2 and 3 at JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur.
