Day 2 of EMPACT 2020 shared the best environmental practices adopted across Tata Steel

Jamshedpur, January 30, 2020

The second day of EMPACT 2020, the annual Environment Meet of Tata Steel focussed on the internal practices and processes adopted to tackle environmental issues & manage resources across the company & group companies.

Senior officials of various departments such as R&D, Product Technology Group, Industrial By-products Management Division (IBMD) & Group companies shared the information on various sustainability related initiatives in their respective divisions or companies.

Dr Amit R Chakraborty, Chief, Environment Management, Tata Steel welcomed the gathering followed by an address by Mr Avneesh Gupta, VP (TQM & Shared Services).

The senior leadership team of Tata Steel, namely, Mr Sanjiv Paul, VP (Safety, Health & Sustainability), Mr Sudhansu Pathak VP (Steel Manufacturing) & Mr Avneesh Gupta VP (TQM &Shared Services) released the Environment Report 2019-20 and launched the Greenhouse Gas Management System of Tata Steel.

The day-long session covered topics like Environmental regulations scenario outlook, Carbon neutrality roadmap for Iron & Steel industry, Eco-portfolio- Environmental impact of steel products & downstream initiatives, Environment initiatives at Tata Steel BSL, Tata Steel Long Products Limited; Advance Pollution Control Technology; Environmental challenges in Maritime, Waste Energy Recovery initiatives, Volunteering activities for Sustainable Jamshedpur, Sustainable Mining, Online fugitive dust monitoring.

It was an engaging day encompassing enthusiastic participation from employees who had converged from various departments & locations of the company.

The third day of the meet will witness discussions on topics of Water pollution control, Waste water & integrated water management, Maximised emission of reduction of sintering, monitoring air emissions, Online analysers, Scientific way to dispose the solid waste, Portable & Online monitoring Instruments.

Experts, scientists and vendor partners from organisations like Central Institute of Mining & Fuel Research, ECO Solutions, PRIMETALS, Nevco, Horiba, AMETEK Land & others will be sharing the knowledge and wisdom on the subjects lined up for the last day’s session.
