Wildlife Week Celebrations 2019 commences at Tata Zoo

-Winners of Best Eco Club Teacher Contest, Essay Competitions and Quiz Competition awarded-

The Wildlife Week Celebrations 2019 commenced today at the Tata Steel Zoological Park with the formal inauguration by Dr. Abhishek Kumar, I.F.S, Divisional Forest Officer, Jamshedpur, who was the Chief Guest, in the presence of Shri Chandramouli Prasad Sinha, Deputy Conservator of Forest & Field Director, the Guest of Honor. The Wildlife Week Celebrations 2019 will be celebrated from September 30-October 4, 2019.

The Chief Guest, Dr. Abhishek Kumar, I.F.S., presented the Best Eco Club Teacher Award 2018-2019 to the Winner Mrs. Sangita Sarkar from NML-Kerala Public School, Jamshedpur. The Runners-Up award went to Mrs. Rajalakshmi Sahu from Belpahar English Medium School, Jharsuguda and the Special Recommendation award went to Mrs. Sheela Sudhakaran, Kerala Samajam Model School, Jamshedpur.

The results for the Inter-School Essay Competition in Hindi and English were also declared and the winners awarded.  The topic of the essay competitions was “Conservation is crucial to protecting Nature and Biodiversity, how?”  A total of 68 participants from 15 schools participated. The winners were:

Tata Steel Zoological Park also organized a Quiz competition on September 30, 2019  on the theme of “Wildlife, Biodiversity and Nature Conservation” at the Michael John Auditorium in which a total of 77 teams comprising 154 students from 20 schools in and around Jamshedpur participated. About Tata Steel Zoological Park:
The Tata Steel Zoological Park inaugurated in 1994, is a Medium Category Zoo recognized by the Central Zoo Authority. Spread over 43 hectares in the verdant surroundings of Jubilee Park, the Zoo houses 428 animals of which there are 20 species of mammals, 27 species of birds and 4 species of reptiles. The Zoo has set a mile stone as it was the first zoo in India to possess pure breed African Lions and Mandrills. It is the only Zoo in the region to have a Butterfly Park.
