Registration opens for the 3rd edition of Noamundi Run-a-thon
Tata Steel brings the much-awaited ‘Tata Steel Noamundi Run-a-thon’ on the theme ‘Run for a Greener Tomorrow’.
The Press Conference for the announcement of the run was organised today at Chaibasa. It was addressed by Mr Atul Bhatnagar, General Manager, Ore Mines & Quarries, Tata Steel, Mr Kulvin Suri, Chief Corporate Communications, India and South East Asia and Arjuna Awardee Mr Bagicha Singh, Senior Coach Athletics of Tata Steel.
A t-shirt for runners depicting the theme was also launched on the occasion. Addressing the Press Conference, Mr Bhatnagar said: “Sports is a way of life in Tat steel and we want the society to be fit in all aspects. This is the 3rd edition of run-a-thon in our Noamundi Iron Mine targeting not only the rural population but also runners from across the nation running for a healthy and green future. I urge everyone to run for this cause and make thie event a success.”
This year, the event is being held on October 20, 2019 (Sunday) at Sports Complex, Noamundi in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand for the 10K and 7K run for men and women (15 years and above), 5K run for boys and girls under the age of 16 years born between October 20, 2007 and October 20, 2003, and 2K run for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The total prize money to be won in various categories is Rupees Five Lakh Thirty Seven Thousand (Rs 5, 37, 000/-) only. There are attractive prizes for the local participants as well.
Tata Steel has always been a pioneer in the field of sustainability that reflects in all its initiatives like 3 MW Solar Power Plant at Noamundi, parks and gardens, water harvesting structures or the greenery in and around its mining operations. Tata Steel Noamundi Run-a-thon will not only showcase various forms of biodiversity in the region along the route but will create awareness among the employees and community on the concept of sustainability and green cover.
As in the previous editions, this year also, the company aims to have participation from across the country to bring in a national fervour, where everyone will run together for a greener, healthier and prosperous tomorrow.
Registrations are open for the 3rd edition of Noamundi Run-a-thon and will close on October 10, 2019. For online registration, participants can log on to http://www.tatasteelnoa-run.com. Offline registration can be done at Sports Complex, Noamundi from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm except Saturday and Sunday. There will also be registration kiosks in schools, colleges and villages across Noamundi and Chaibasa region for offline registration.
