Para Badminton Champion from Tata Steel Shines Once Again on the World Stage

World No. 6 from Jamshedpur Wins Silver at Denmark Para Badminton International 2019

Umesh Vikram Kumar from Tata Steel, won the Silver medal in Men’s Doubles at the Victor Denmark Para Badminton International 2019 held in the Danish city of Odense from October 15-20, 2019.

The Indian pair of Umesh and Suhas LY went down fighting 21-14, 8-21, 12-21 against Thailand in the Finals.

Mr. Kumar, who is a  Manager with Helpdesk Centre in Procurement Division of Tata Steel, has had a meteoric rise from world no. 26 to 6 in the last three years and  expresses his gratitude towards Tata Steel Limited for providing necessary support which has helped him to follow his passion and strive for glory for the nation.

Umesh currently trains at the Tata Steel Sports Department Badminton training facility as well as at the Gopichand Badminton Academy at Hyderabad.

Umesh would be taking part in the Japan Para Badminton International 2019 to be held from November 12-17, 2019.
