Jamshedpur set to rock with the Jamshedpur Carnival
The Jamshedpur Carnival got off to a flying start with the Carnival Parade which started at Jubilee Park and went on to Gopal Maidan. At the Gopal Maidan, the main event was the Dance Festival and the performance by "Zenith" the renowned Dance Troupe. Sri. Amit Kumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, East Singhbhum, Mr.Suresh Dutt Tripathi, VP (HRM) Tata Steel, Mr.Ashish Mathur, M.D, JUSCO, Mrs.Ruchi Narendran and other dignitories were present on the occasion.
The colourful carnival parade had a rich pageant of dancers representing different corners of India. A Royal Enfield Group of motorbikers, led the floats. The presence of a Vintage car added to the festivity. Carnival revelers danced and cheered alongside, until the parade reached Gopal Maidan which has been prepped for the carnival festival that will follow for the next three days.
The eagerly awaited dance festival was the pride of the evening. Local schools dance academies and out of town groups showcased their dances. The dance event is probably the most popular participatory event of the carnival, with more than 800 students from 20 schools and 12 regional dance academies taking part in a theme based competition. For this year's competition, academies were asked to choreograph on the theme of a "Dream" while school performances performed on "Poetry". Zenith, a nationally renowned dance troupe provided a spectacular performance in the evening.
If the 18th evening is given to dance, then the 19th will bring us music, as finalists from the local Sa Re Ga Ma competitions held at various community centers, perform for audiences, and the evening also features a special session of music and songs by distinguished people from the regional district administration, the community and industry.
