Tata Football Academy cadets participate in Nehru Cup 2012

Jamshedpur, August 22, 2012

The 15th edition of Nehru Cup 2012 is beginning from today with the opening match being played between India and Syria. The Indian team consisting of 20 players was announced recently.

Out of the 20 players 8 players have been groomed by Tata Football Academy, including Alwyn George, who graduated from TFA in the recent past. This reflects TFA's consistency in developing players for the Indian Teams.

We are attaching herewith a brief on the 8 players in Indian team from TFA for internal and external coverage please.

About Tata Football Academy:
The objective of Tata Football Academy is to provide the mainstream of national football with a perennial pool of young footballers trained and oriented to international standards. The Academy is spread over 25000 sq ft area amidst green surroundings and accommodates 40 trainees. Over the last 25 years, TFA has trained 182 cadets, 125 of whom have represented the country at various levels.

It provides for the young trainees/ cadets -

  • Well-furnished bedrooms with modern conveniences and facilities.

  • Video-aided lecture rooms with presentation facilities.

  • Modern, hygienic dining facilities with a well-equipped kitchen that plans and prepares highly nutritious and balanced diet under the direction of nutrition experts.

  • A gymnasium, rooms for physiotherapy and fitness monitoring, a dispensary and recuperation/convalescence facilities staffed by competent medical staff and sports medicine specialists.

  • Recreational/ common room facilities with table tennis, carrom, chess, volleyball etc. as supportive games.

  • An administrative block.

  • A 100 x 65 metre floodlit playground.

  • A swimming pool
