Tata Steel completed the second quarter and first half of FY’11 with a significant increase in its production and sales volume as compared to the corresponding period of last year. The key production and sales figures are appended below.

Q2 FY’11 witnessed some best ever Production and Sales in various units of the Steel Company. Some commendable records are:-
- Highest ever Hot Metal production of 1899 kt in a quarter (previous best: 1888 kt in Q3 FY’10).
- Highest ever Crude Steel production of 1726 kt in a quarter (previous best: 1724 kt in Q3 FY’10).
- G blast furnace achieved highest ever quarterly production of 557 kt (previous best 545 kt in Q1 FY’11).
- LD#1 (one of the Steel Melting Shop) achieved highest ever quarterly production of 774 kt (previous best: 748 kt in Q4 FY’10).
- Highest ever Long Products sales of 774 kt in a quarter (previous best: 753 kt in Q4 FY’10).
Other Highlights
- Tata Steel was awarded the ‘Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar’ for the second consecutive year. The company bagged the award in the ‘Financial Support for Sports Excellence’ category.
- Tata Steel was conferred CSR Excellence Award 2010 by ASSOCHAM.
