Jamshedpur, September 30, 2010

~ TFA cadets training to be guided by international standards ~

TFA and Sheffield United Football Club entered into an agreement on 10th August, that would see technical and strength and conditioning coaches from Sheffield, visit Jamshedpur on a regular basis over the next three years.

Ron Reid and Barney Lord are on a nine day visit to TFA working with both the players and the staff. In addition to coaching the two English coaches are also helping to develop the TFA staff and assist them to plan work and deliver sessions for the boys that are of a high calibre.

The players were tested for Speed, Agility, Endurance and Power and their scores were recorded. They will be re-tested during the next visit of the English coaches in November, 2010 to chart out their progress.

Reid says, “TFA is a leading academy in India and we are both delighted to be here working with such a fine organization.” He also added “We have seen many positive aspects of work being done here. The aspects that we believe could be improved range from the structure of the programme, programme content and the methodology for delivering the programme - both technical and physical. We are also recommending a number of innovations that will see the boys involved in some multi-sport training which will be of benefit to them as far as their overall conditioning is concerned.”

The purpose of the link, in addition to fostering good relations, is to help TFA develop a coaching programme based on best practices as used at some of the leading clubs in Europe. Also, the intention is to develop alongside strength and conditioning programme which will help the young players to reach peak performance by fulfilling their physical potential particularly as far as Strength, Agility, Power, Balance and Coordination is concerned.
