With food safety, packaging integrity and environmental protection identified as the future growth drivers for TCIL, the company is strategically poised to remain a responsible category leader. The team plans to launch a thematic campaign aiming to spread greater awareness about the benefits of tinplate as the best packaging alternative.

Speaking about TCIL’s Centenary Year, Mr R N Murthy, Managing Director, TCIL, said, “Achieving the milestone of 100 years was a matter of great pride for the company and its stakeholders. The company stays committed to working in the areas of safety, technological upgradations and sustainable packaging solutions, and these elements are inextricably linked to the welfare of TCIL’s business, employees, shareholders and communities around. As TCIL celebrates its centenary, the company stands ready to lead for the next 100 years.”

Starting as a joint venture between the erstwhile Tata Iron & Steel Company (TISCO) and Burmah Oil Company to cater to the tinplate shortage after the First World War, TCIL has grown steadily. TCIL is the market leader in the tinplate industry catering close to 40% of the domestic market. The company is also evaluating further growth options.

With increased awareness about the environment, health and the increasing need for sustainable packaging solutions, demand for tinplate is poised to grow faster than it grew in the last 100 years. TCIL has its targets firmly set on shaping the future. Devoted to nature and touching lives, TCIL is set to lead the tinplate revolution and retain its market leadership in the years to come.
