Sir Dorabji Tata Biodiversity Park at Tata Steel`s West Bokaro Division dedicated to the community
As part of its commitment to biodiversity and sustainability, Tata Steel’s West Bokaro Division dedicated Sir Dorabji Tata Biodiversity Park to the local community on February 14, 2020. Mr T V Narendran, CEO & MD, Tata Steel graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Mr T V Narendran inaugurated the park by unveiling the Sir Dorabji Tata bust.
The 100-hectare Sir Dorabji Tata Biodiversity Park has 7 small parks built on a 5 hectare of land which includes Butterfly Park, Hibiscus Park, Medicinal park, Specie Garden, Reptile Niche, Mughal Garden and Rock Garden. Built on mined-out area, the park also packs 1500-million-gallon rainwater harvesting structure with catchment area of 152 hectares. It also has a 2-acre patch for development of native forest species. With initiatives like seed ball plantation of overburden dump, coconut shell sapling generator, niche nesting and tree transplant, Tata Steel’s Sir Dorabji Tata Biodiversity Park reflects its environmental commitments. All furniture in the park are made of Fiber Reinforced Polymer which has been developed by New Materials Business group of Tata Steel.
In its endeavors towards building a greener tomorrow, Tata Steel’s West Bokaro is further working on improving the aesthetic value of the reclaimed mines. A Golf Course, Avi-Fauna Corridor, Rock Climbing area and Floating fountain are several projects which will enhance the ambiance of the Sir Dorabji Tata Biodiversity Park in time to come.
On the occasion, Mr T V Narendran along with Mr D B Sundara Ramam also inaugurated the Smart Classroom at JRD Tata Training Centre, Pundi, West Bokaro. Decked with state-of-the-art smart board, 2-way smart screens and cameras to help real-time learning, the JRD Tata Training Centre at West Bokaro is the first to launch Smart Class facilities in its Raw Material Division.
Others present on the occasion from Tata Steel include Mr Suresh Dutt Tripathi, Vice President (HRM), Mr Manish Mishra, General Manager (West Bokaro Division) and senior officials of the company.
