Fake Information on a suspected case of COVID-19 in TMH on Social Media

Jamshedpur, March 20, 2020

In response to speculation and miscommunication on social media about an alleged case of COVID-19 being admitted at the Tata Main Hospital (TMH) with the pictographic representation of personal medical details of a certain patient, TMH would like to reiterate that till date, no patient in TMH has been confirmed as infected with COVID-19.

The hospital, however, is in the process of enquiring into the details about the chain of events leading to the above-mentioned miscommunication. Based on the findings, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against the concerned party/parties.

The entire medical and non-medical staff of the hospital is responding to the outbreak of the respiratory disease caused by the novel (new) coronavirus. The focus has been on the adherence to the core capacities for disease preparedness and response, which include hospital preparedness, logistics management, capacity building and appropriate communication.

We stay committed to inclusive and systematic healthcare provisions for not just the employees of Tata Steel and their families, but also for the citizen of Jamshedpur at large with zero compromise. Under the circumstances we request all concerned to please exercise caution by not spreading misinformation and/or panic; and take 100% precaution with social distancing and personal hand hygiene.
