TISCON Rebars Seized after Raid at Bhelpahari Stockyard

Jamshedpur , September 13, 2019

~ Major Goods in-Transit Theft Syndicate Busted and Veteran Criminals Nabbed ~

Jamshedpur Police based on information provided by Tata Steel Security department conducted a raid at a stockyard at Bhelpahari on the Jamshedpur- Ranchi highway on September 13 and seized 1.5 Tonnes of TATA TISCON rebars while unearthing a syndicate involved in the theft of Tata Tiscon rebars during transit from Plant to stockyards in collusion with the respective truck drivers.

It is relevant to note that the TATA TISCON rebars which are obtained via this stolen route are sold at the local market by a few unscrupulous traders. The Stockyard or ‘Tal’ was being operated by one Babban Yadav. All the members of the racket were arrested and stolen material seized by the police.

Commenting on the ongoing efforts to help consumers buy only genuine Tata Steel products, Mr. Gopal Prasad Choudhary, Chief, Security and Brand Protection, Tata Steel said; “Tata Steel will monitor, identify and initiate action against any and all offenders including traders selling stolen TATA branded materials and spare no effort to fight this menace in the market as well as proliferation of counterfeit products in the market. We are thankful to SSP Jamshedpur for his swift response to contain this menace."

Tata Steel has taken several steps to protect its brand name being used by unauthorized entities manufacturing and selling counterfeit products under the company’s name. The company engages with the local law enforcement authorities to keep a check on the infringement of the ‘TATA’ trademark. Tata Steel continuously collaborates with law enforcement agencies across the country to contain afore mentioned illegal activities impacting the company’s assets, brand and reputation while also defrauding the exchequer of rightful taxes.

This latest move is part of Tata Steel’s continuing efforts to stop pilferage of products. Rebars are used in the construction industry. In the near 18 million tonne market, India's best-known rebar brand is TATA TISCON. The brand sells through an established network of nearly 6,400 dealers across India.
