Tata Steel wins three awards at the worldsteel's 10th Steelie Awards
~ Tata Steel Limited won two awards and Tata Steel Europe bagged one ~
Tata Steel has won three awards at the World Steel Association’s (worldsteel) 10th Annual Steelie Awards.
Tata Steel Limited has won the steelie awards in two categories: ‘Excellence in digital communications’ and ‘Excellence in communications programmes’ for its #WeAlsoMakeTomorrow campaign. Tata Steel Europe bagged the steelie award in the category - ‘Excellence in Life Cycle Assessment’ for ‘Developing an LCA tool to assess the sustainability of new product developments’.
The awards were presented at the annual dinner of the worldsteel’s 2019 General Assembly in Monterrey, Mexico on Monday, October 14, 2019. Mr. T. V. Narendran, CEO & MD, Tata Steel, Mr. Chanakya Chaudhary, VP, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, and Mr. Peeyush Gupta, VP (Steel Marketing & Sales), Tata Steel, received the award on behalf of Tata Steel Limited. Dr. Henrik Adam, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Commercial Officer, Tata Steel Europe, and Dr. Hans Fischer, Non-Executive Director, Tata Steel Europe, received the award on behalf of Tata Steel Europe.

Tata Steel (Tata Steel Limited and Tata Steel Europe) was nominated in five out of six relevant categories. The six categories include: Excellence in digital communications, Innovation of the year, Excellence in sustainability, Excellence in Life Cycle Assessment, Excellence in education and training, and Excellence in communications programmes.

The Steelie Awards recognise member companies or individuals for their contribution to the steel industry over a one-year period in a series of categories impacting the industry.
According to worldsteel, Excellence in digital communications award recognises all digital communications efforts from website to mobile applications to social media. It particularly looks at: overall design, look and feel of the website, quality of information, ease of navigation, loading time and use of technology; presence and activity on social media; range and quality of digital/interactive media - apps, blogs, videos, live-streaming, podcasts, animations, infographics, games and simulations; best practice leadership; and digital innovation.
Excellence in Life Cycle Assessment recognises member companies that have played a key role in utilising the concept of life cycle thinking for overall environmental improvement in marketing and/or regulatory influence, project application and new product development.
Excellence in communications programmes recognises investment, creativity and innovation in major communications programmes (internal and external) that promote the steel industry or steel as a competitive material. The award covers all channels from advertising, print, marketing promotion and digital.
In 2018, Tata Steel Limited had won the ‘Excellence in Communications Programmes’ award for its ‘#DoorsofIndia - A journey by Pravesh’ campaign at the 9th Steelie Awards held in Tokyo. In the same year, Tata Steel Europe also won an award in the ‘Excellence in education and training’ category.
