4th Senior Jharkhand State Hockey Championship from August 27-29, 2019

Jamshedpur , August 26, 2019

On occasion of the National Sports Day on August 29, Tata Steel in association with Dept. of Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Jharkhand and Hockey Jharkhand would organize the 4th Senior Jharkhand State Hockey Championship 2018 for Men and Women from August 27-29 at the Marang Gomke Astroturf Hockey Stadium at Morabadi in Ranchi.

Shri Rahul Sharma, IAS – Secretary, Department of Tourism, Art, Culture, Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Jharkhand would inaugurate the tournament at 11.00 AM on August 27, 2019.

Thirty-six teams (21 men & 15 women teams) coming from various districts of the state would participate in the tournament which would run in an eliminator format.

Commenting on the tournament, Mr. Bhola Nath Singh, President, Hockey Jharkhand said; “We are very pleased to be organizing the 4th edition of this important tournament in the Jharkhand Hockey Calendar and will ensure that the players have a good experience. This tournament is very vital for Hockey Jharkhand as the performance of players in this annual event forms the basis of selection of senior men & women players who represent the state at various other Hockey tournaments & championships.”

Mr. Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel said; “The Jharkhand Hockey tournament has been able to establish itself as an important event in the state’s sporting calendar. This is a significant platform to encourage and showcase aspiring talent in the region. We will continue to provide impetus to the sport and support platforms to groom champion hockey players in the state.”
