Tata Steel’s much awaited Noamundi Run-a-thon to be held on October 28, 2018

Noamundi, September 25, 2018

Promoting sports as way of life in its areas of operation, Tata Steel at Noamundi is all set to organise the second edition of Noamundi Run-a-Thon on October 28, 2018 (Sunday). Meandering through the heart of Tata Steel township, the run-a-thon will kick-off from Noamundi Sports Complex with the first race scheduled at 6:00 am.

The much-awaited Tata Steel Noamundi Run-a-thon 2018 will be on the theme "Run for Biodiversity” as last year. This year, the run-a-thon draws its theme from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) initiative of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The mining industry has the opportunity and potential to positively contribute to all 17 SDGs. The Noamundi Iron Mine of Tata Steel is working extensively on promoting and conserving biodiversity over the years and these initiatives perfectly aligns with the UNDP’s agenda of 2030.

Reflecting its commitment and vision for tomorrow, Tata Steel’s Noamundi Run-a-thon will not only showcase different forms of biodiversity along the route but will also sensitise the employees, local communities and other stakeholders at large on the concept of sustainability. There will be different events for various categories of runners. Apart from the 10 KMs run for elite runners (open to all), there will be a 7 KMs run for Men and Women, a 5 KMs run for Boys and Girls (under the age of 16 yrs born on or after November 28, 2002) and a 2 KMs run for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

Registrations are open for Noamundi Run-a-thon and will close on October 15, 2018. For online registration, participants can log on to http://www.tatasteelnoa-run.com .
