Tata Steel the flagship company of the Tata Group, recently launched Sm@rtFAB, a new construction reinforcement solution. This is India’s first branded welded wire fabric, commonly known as wire mesh. The prefabricated reinforcement solution, which was unveiled at a function held in Dubai on March 22, 2018, aims to bring speed, value and convenience to construction projects.

Sm@rtFAB was formally unveiled by Mr T V Narendran, CEO and MD, Tata Steel, and Mr Anand Sen, President TQM & Steel Business, Tata Steel, at the inaugural Construction Conclave that was organised by the Industrial Products, Projects and Exports (IPPE)) department of Tata Steel in Dubai, in the presence of valued customers, eminent construction experts, speakers and representatives from Tata Steel Europe and Natsteel.

Sm@rtFAB is yet another addition to Tata Steel’s repertoire of construction and house building solutions and is a perfect example of Tata Steel’s innovative and technological proficiency.

Speaking on the launch of the brand, Mr Narendran said: “We at Tata Steel are extremely happy to have launched Sm@rtFAB, a product that has been in use in developed countries since long but has just been introduced in Indian markets”. He added that “Tata Steel has always tried to capture the market requirements and develop products and solutions suitable for each market. Introduction of Sm@rtFAB to the range of construction solutions offered to customers is a continuation of this journey.”

Sm@rtFAB is made of cold worked and ribbed wire rods which are fused together using electrical resistance fusion welding giving the fabricated sheet the desirable strength to be used as reinforcement. It is available in diameters ranging from 5 mm to 12 mm in an interval of 1 mm and is completely customised as per the project’s design requirement.
