Benagluru, September 06, 2018

The Ferro Alloys & Minerals Division of Tata Steel has bagged the National Award for “Best Overall Excellence in Water Management” in the category of National Awards for Excellence in CSR & Sustainability. The award was given on the occasion of World CSR & Sustainability Day organised by the National CSR Leadership Congress & Awards at Bengaluru on September 5, 2018. Mr Prabhash Gokarn, Head (Engineering Projects & Town), FAMD, Tata Steel received the award on behalf of the Company.

The award is a testimony to initiatives taken by FAMD’s Sukinda Chromite Mine in particular and the Ferro Alloy & Minerals Division on the environment front. Rainwater harvesting has also been used to recharge the ground water both at Sukinda Chromite Mine and Bichakundi Manganese Mine - a big step towards water conservation. Engagement with IUCN has helped Tata Steel to implement comprehensive biodiversity management plans.
