12th Jharkhand State Boxing Championship to be held at Noamundi from December 26-29

  • More than 350 boxers will participate from 17 Districts of Jharkhand
  • Home-grown boxers from in and around Noamundi will participate for the first time

Promoting sports as a way of life, Tata Steel in association with Jharkhand Boxing Association will organise the 12th Jharkhand State Boxing Championship for Senior and Junior categories at Noamundi Boxing Centre (NBC).

Mr Suresh Dutt Tripathi, Vice President, HRM, Tata Steel and Vice President of Jharkhand Boxing Association will grace the inauguration as Chief Guest on December 26, 2018. The event will conclude on December 29, 2018 with distribution of awards by Mr. Anand Sen, President TQM and Steel Business, Tata Steel and President of Jharkhand Boxing Association. The event will be conducted for Elite (Men & Women), Youth & Junior (Men and Boys), Sub-junior (Boys & Girls). A total of 60 women boxers will be in action in the ring for the first time in this championship at the NBC.

NBC is affiliated to Jharkhand Boxing Association and is the only dedicated boxing centre in the West Singhbhum region. The NBC built with an investment of Rs 31 lakh, is spread over 3150 square feet area. The centre utilizes scrap conveyor belt for flooring as part of the “Best Out Of Waste” initiative at Ore Mines & Quarries Division of Tata Steel. Home-grown boxers from in and around Noamundi will compete with reputed boxers from the state.

Jharkhand Boxing Association cadres have performed exceptionally well in both international and national events bringing laurels to the Nation and the State of Jharkhand. The 12th Jharkhand State Boxing Championship will yet again unearth fresh talent and build more excitement towards the sport in the region.
