Tata Steel observes World Breastfeeding Week
Tata Steel Family Initiatives Foundation (TSFIF) initiated a series of awareness programmes on the importance of breastfeeding as World Breastfeeding Week (Aug 1-7) started today.
The awareness programmes, including public meetings, interaction with new mothers, a street play, etc, were jointly conducted by TSFIF and Singhbhum Legal Aid and Development Society (SLADS), an NGO, at Salboni village in East Singhbhum.
A session on dispelling myths associated with breastfeeding was also held for the new mothers in the village and adjoining areas.
Dr Pushpa Tiwari, Jt. Administrator, TSFIF was present on the occasion along with other TSFIF staff.
Continuing with the observance of World Breastfeeding Week, TSFIF will stage nukkad nataks (street plays) at all its 13 Maternal and Child Health (MCH) clinics in Jamshedpur and nearby areas.
These street plays, which will sensitize nursing mothers and pregnant women on breastfeeding, will be held from Aug 2-7.
