National Fire Service Week kicks off at Tata Steel

The opening ceremony of National Fire Service Week (April 14 - 20, 2017) was held today at West Plant, Fire Brigade, inside Tata Steel Works. .Mr Sudhansu Pathak, Vice President, Steel Manufacturing and Mr B K Dinda, General Secretory, Tata Workers’ Union graced the occasion as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

Mr Pathak, the chief guest while addressing the audience, emphasised that Fire Safety is a very critical element and should be incorporated during the initial design phase of Plant Construction. Mr Dinda spoke about the importance of the day and praised the Fire Service personnel for their exemplary service.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Gopal P. Choudhary, Chief of Security,  outlined the importance of Emergency situations and its mitigation. He said that many people get injured/sometimes lose their lives due to fire incidents in India, and this should be averted by creating more  awareness on fire safety amongst the community.

On the sidelines of the event a Fire Prevention Handbook & fire safety posters were released by the dignitaries. Chief guest and Guest of honour jointly flagged off  the Fire Vehicles Rally.

During the week long programme various events like Awareness session on Fire Safety at Sakchi and Bistupur market, Mock Drill Competition amongst schools through Safe club, Fire Tenders Rally inside works and outside works area, Fire Safety Awareness training on “Home Fire Safety for House Wives” in R D Bhatta, Sonari and Namda Community centres run by Urban Services etc are going to be organized. For the employees,  programmes like Online fire safety quiz, Fire Hazard Hunt Program etc are being organized.
