Tata Steel organises 'SWATI' Annual Sports Mela 2016
The Steel Women’s Aspirational Team Initiative (SWATI) – a women empowerment committee of Tata Steel organised ‘Annual Sports Mela’ today at JRD Tata Sports Complex. Mr Sudhanshu Pathak, VP, Steel Manufacturing, Tata Steel inaugurated the event
The aim was to engage the women workforce in the true spirit of sports and help build camaraderie in the team.
Speaking on the occasion Mr Pathak said ‘I had the opportunity to work with the SWATI team as part of its founding member. SWATI has indeed grown and over the years it has organised several programmes for the women employees of Tata Steel. The Annual sports programme is quite unique because apart from Jamshedpur we have employees participating form various other locations of Tata Steel. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people and share ideas. I wish the day long event a great success’
Ms Ruchi Narendran was present at the closing ceremony besides Srimanti Sen. They gave away prizes to the winners, besides emerging as winners in the tug-of-war event.
Speaking on the occasion Ms Narendran said ‘This day we celebrate power of being a women. The energy, strength, fun, friendship gets celebrated on the Annual Sports Day. The initiative strengthens teams at workplace. It is important for us to meet each other not only at workplace but also beyond it and help each other in every way possible. Every women employee should concentrate on their fitness and avail opportunities given by the company’
