Tata Steel launches 'Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag' in Bhubaneswar

Tata Steel today launched a new value added product, GGBS (Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) at the Mayfair Hotel in Bhubaneswar. Around 40 potential customers from Construction Companies, RMCs, EPCs and Paver Block Manufacturers were present at the Customer Meet organized for this purpose.

GGBS is a downstream product of Blast Furnace Slag. It can be used as a partial replacement of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) up to 70%, thus bringing down the cost of concrete. The concrete made by using GGBS is stronger, more durable and Eco-friendly. The other benefits of using GGBS are higher ultimate strength, low permeability, resistance to chloride and sulphite attacks etc. GGBS is rightly termed as the ‘Future of Concrete’. The potential customers of GGBS are Construction Companies, Ready Mix Concrete Plants, Builders & Promoters,Paver Block Manufacturers etc.

GGBS concrete is widely in use in developed countries like USA, Japan, China and Singapore. The Main Speakers for this event were Mr. Rashid Merchant, VP Marketing from RMC India Readymix and Mr. PN OJha, General Manager, NCCBM. Other senior officials from Tata Steel also attended the event.
