Tata Steel announces the commercial production of GGBS
As part of its constant endeavor to create value for the end consumers, Tata Steel today commenced commercial production of GGBS, world's most sustainable building material. The first dispatch of GGBS to JUSCO was flagged off by Mr Ashish Mathur, MD, Jusco and Mr Sandeep Kumar, EIC, IBMD (Industrial Byproduct Management Division) today from Tata Steel Works.
GGBS is used as a part replacement of cement and has been the solution for high strength, cost effective concrete in the developed economies for last 50 years. GGBS is blended with OPC 53 grade cement up to GGBS: OPC ratio of 70:30 to get high strength concrete. The product will now be made available to various customers such as ready mix concrete (RMC) manufacturers and construction companies having their own batching plant in Eastern India.
GGBS promises to be a sustainable and cost effective material that will not only enhance the compressive strength and durability of the concrete but also significantly reduce the carbon foot print. JUSCO is in the business of RMC and will supply GGBS based high strength concrete in and around Jamshedpur
