Tata Steel organizes 12th edition of Annual Painting Competition - 'Colour Splash'

Jamshedpur, January 25, 2012

The Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (SPPE) at the Centre For Excellence organized a painting competition ‘Colour Splash’ today at CFE to promote the finer sensitivities of the young school students. The Tinplate Company of India Ltd (TCIL) have partnered with SPPE in this noble effort for the fifth time.

The theme for the senior team was ‘Save our Beaches’ or ‘A Taste for Monsoons’ and the junior team was asked to paint on the theme of ‘A Visit to a Farm’ or ‘A Picnic I Shall Remember’. The painting competition was organized with a view that children of all ages love to paint. They paint their surrounding as they see it; not only what is immediately perceived but also what is visible to their inner selves. Painting with children is a powerful medium and a great way to teach them how to think out-of-the-box, to experiment, learn cause and effect and think about sustainable practices to preserve and conserve our natural resources.

Ms Mausumi Sengupta inaugurated the event by releasing colourful balloons and painting a few strokes on a canvas. She thoroughly appreciated the endeavors made by Tata Steel for harnessing the sensitive sides of the young minds.

It was to bring about an attitude of care and concern for the immediate surroundings that the Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (SPPE) embarked on an ‘awareness for environment’ journey for agents of change, the young citizens, eleven years ago. The inter-school painting competition, Colour Splash is one such effort organized annually at the Centre for Excellence.
