Tata Steel observes World AIDS Day 2012

Jamshedpur is an industrial town with a large workforce and migrant labour, as well as a significant youth population. These factors along with indulgence in risky behavior make people vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. Corporate Sustainability Services, Tata Steel through its operating arms i.e. Tata Steel Family Initiatives Foundation and Tata Steel Rural Development Society implements HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support services through a team of dedicated staff in the operational areas.

On the occasion of World AIDS Day, celebrated globally on 1st December every year, Tata Steel has organized various activities including float, rally, street play and Trucker's Utsav across various locations in and around Jamshedpur to raise awareness and mobilize the people. Theme for World AIDS Day is Getting to Zero i.e. envision a world with zero new HIV infections, zero discrimination, and zero AIDS-related deaths.

Key events to be held in Jamshedpur on 1st December 2012:

  • Flag-off of Float and Rally by Chief Guest - Mrs. SurekhaNerurkar, President - AIWC, 9 - 9:30 am
    Venue: L Town Gate, Sakchi

  • Stall inauguration by Chief Guest - Mrs. SurekhaNerurkar, President - AIWC, 10:15 am Truckers' Utsav: a daylong infotainprogramme for truckers. Inauguration by Mr. Subodh Kumar, SDO and Mr. P. N. Singh, President, Tata Workers' Union, 11am
