Quarterly Production & Sales Figures of Tata Steel India

Tata Steel completed the first quarter of FY’12 with a significant increase in its production and sales volume as compared to the corresponding period of last year. The quarter registered best ever Hot Metal and Crude Steel production. The key production and sales figures are appended below.

    • Highest ever Hot Metal production of 1944 kt in a quarter (previous best: 1933 kt in Q4 FY’11).
    • Highest ever Crude Steel production of 1794 kt in a quarter (previous best: 1778 kt in Q4 FY’11).
    • G blast furnace achieved highest ever quarterly production of 566 kt (previous best 558 kt in Q3 FY’09).
    • LD#1 (one of the Steel Melting Shop) achieved highest ever quarterly production of 804 kt (previous best: 799 kt in Q4 FY’11).
    • LD#2 (another Steel Melting Shop) achieved highest ever quarterly production of 990 kt (previous best: 981 kt in Q3 FY’10).
    • New Bar Mill achieved highest ever quarterly production of 193 kt (previous best 188 kt in Q4 FY’11).
    • 16% increase in Long Products sales over Q1 FY’11.

  • 12% increase in Flat Product sales over Q1 FY’11.

 

Other Highlights

    • Tata Steel was recognized by Department of Controller General of Patents Designs & Trademark, GOI for highest number of patents granted in the period of FY07 to FY11 in the category of Indian owned Private Companies.
  • Tata Steel has been named in FORTUNE magazine's 2011 list of ‘World’s Most Admired Companies’ for the third consecutive year (moved from 12th to 6th rank ), the annual survey conducted by FORTUNE magazine and Hay Group, a global management consulting firm.
