Worldsteel Association (worldsteel) has declared Tata Steel winner in two of the seven newly-introduced Steelies award categories -- Steel Industry Website of the Year and Life Cycle Analysis Leadership.

The Steelies awards have been introduced this year for the first time by Worldsteel Association. The awards were presented at a farewell dinner held to mark the closure of the 44th annual steel industry conference at Tokyo earlier this month.

In addition to the Steelies, Tata Steel has also won the Worldsteel Association’s Safety & Health Excellence Recognition Award’ for the second consecutive year. The award was given to the Company for overcoming the challenges posed by fatalities that occur while working in confined spaces. This was a concern the Company addressed while undertaking the brownfield expansion project at Jamshedpur. The project envisages expansion of the capacity of the Jamshedpur works from 6.8 mtpa at present to 10 mtpa.

The new-look Tata Steel website (www.tatasteel.com) was launched earlier in March this year by Mr H.M. Nerurkar, Managing Director of the Company. It was designed keeping in mind the thrust areas of the Company. It highlighted sections on growth & globalisation, products & production processes, corporate citizenship, corporate sustainability & environment and HR initiatives and practices of the Company.

Recently, the websites of Tata Steel India and Tata Steel Europe have been integrated under the same umbrella.
