Tata Steel welcomes Saurabh Tiwary to its fold
Saurabh Tiwary, a member of India’s One Day International cricket team will be joining Tata Steel on September 1, 2010 as Manager, Sports. The appointment letter to this effect was handed over to Mr. Tiwary by Mr. Sanjiv Paul, Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel. While handing over the letter, Mr. Paul welcomed him to the Tata Steel family. Mr. Tiwary will be a third generation employee of Tata Steel. He expressed his happiness in joining the Company.
Mr. Saurabh Tiwary, a left-handed batsman began playing cricket at an early age. He represented Jharkhand at the Under-14 level before making his first-class debut in the 2006-07 Ranji Trophy. He scored two half-centuries in India's Under-19 tri-series victory against South Africa and Bangladesh in 2008 and was a member of the squad that won the U-19 World Cup in Malaysia in 2008. He performed consistently well in the Ranji Trophy before hitting a peak in the 2009-10 season for Jharkhand, scoring three centuries. The IPL in 2010 shot him into limelight, as he proved one of the finest finds for ‘Mumbai Indians’, striking three and a half-centuries and cementing his place in their middle order. Recently, he has been inducted in India’s One Day International Cricket team.
