Tata Steel has recently been recognized as Indian Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise (MAKE) Winner for the year 2010 for sustained excellence in field of Knowledge Management. Tata Steel is the only manufacturing company to get this prestigious award this year. A panel of Indian-based fortune 500 senior executives and internationally recognized knowledge management and intellectual capital experts selected the Winners.

Ms Vinita Bali (MD, Britannia Industries Ltd) handed over the trophy to winners at a special award ceremony at the CII "KM India Summit 2010" held at Bangalore during December 3-4, 2010. Mr. Rabindra Kumar, Head TQM (Knowledge Management) received the trophy on behalf of Tata Steel.

The 2010 Indian MAKE panel has rated Tata Steel best (1st Place) in developing knowledge workers through senior management leadership. This is one of the eight key knowledge performance dimensions as practiced at Tata Steel for knowledge development of an employee and measured aptly by Quality Index parameter. This has helped in improving the quality of Tata Steel's knowledge repository to a great extent.

Mr. H. M. Nerurkar, Managing Director, Tata Steel, expressed his happiness saying “We are very happy to win the Indian MAKE award for the sixth consecutive year in 2010, this gives us a lot of faith and confidence to reinforce our belief that the value of human assets and the power of their knowledge is the greatest asset that we have. Tata Steel has been six-time Indian MAKE Winner ever since its inception in 2005 (2005-2010), including 2006 overall Indian MAKE Winner. It is the only manufacturing company to achieve this feat in 2010. With this Tata Steel now has unique distinction of being awarded MAKE 2010 at Global, Asian as well as Indian level.
