Lifeline Express Operations flagged off at Jajpur Road in Odisha, Tata Steel hosts the 'Hospital on Wheels' for the sixteenth time

Lifeline Express, the 'Hospital on Wheels', which is being hosted by Tata Steel at Jajpur Road Railway siding in Jajpur district of Orissa, started off its operations today. Shri Preeti Ranjan Ghadai, Hon'ble MLA, Korai, inaugurated the operations of Lifeline Express by cutting the ribbon in the presence of other dignitaries which included Shri Sanjiv Paul, Vice-President (Corporate Services), Shri Hridayeshwar Jha, Vice-President (Odisha Project), Rajeev Singhal (EIC), L S Divakera, GM (FAMD), Biren Buta from CSS, Dr T P Madhusudanan, GM (Medical Services), Shri Rajesh Chintak, Chief Resident Executive, Tata Steel and Shri Ranjeet Mohanty,OAS, ADM, Kalinganagar.

Shri Ghadai visited the train after the inauguration and appreciated the efforts of Tata Steel to host Lifeline Express for the benefit of poor patients of the state. Tata Steel is hosting this unique train for the sixteenth time to reach out to the rural populace. This is also the sixth occasion that the Lifeline Express is being hosted by Tata Steel in Odisha -- and for the second time in Jajpur district. The initiative aims at providing free surgical interventions in areas of post-polio deformities, hearing disorders, dental and eye problems of the people of Jajpur, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal and Kendarapara districts of the State.

This event is being organized in association with Impact India Foundation, Government of Odisha, Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Indian Railways. Prior to this, Tata Steel has hosted Lifeline Express in five locations in Orissa, namely Gopalpur, Daitari, Jajpur Road, Meramundali and Joda. The hospital would be stationed at the Jajpur Road Railway siding till January 15, 2011.

The activity and preliminary screening of Lifeline Express was initiated in November 2010 in the district headquarter hospital located at Jajpur Town, Area Hospitals located at Jajpur Road and Gopalpur and various Community Health Centres (CHCs). Tata Steel, with its continued commitment towards social cause, has been a prime collaborator with the Impact India Foundation for the Lifeline Express.
