Mr. B Muthuraman, Managing Director, Tata Steel and Mr. H M Nerurkar, Executive Director (India and South East Asia), Tata Steel welcomed the Governor of Jharkhand on his visit to Tata Steel. To mark this milestone achieved by Tata Steel, a function was organised at Steelennium Hall inside Tata Steel Works after the inauguration of PH #6 at the site.

The inauguration of the Power House is an achievement by Tata Steel's Jamshedpur Works and a step towards its expansion plan to become 6.8 MT. This Power House #6 has been developed by Industrial Energy Limited (a joint Venture company of Tata Power and Tata Steel). IEL has set up this 120MW Blast Furnace Gas (generated from Tata Steel Blast Furnace) based thermal power plant inside Tata Steel Works, Jamshedpur. The Power House will be utilising the additional available Blast Furnace (BF) Gas, Coke Oven (CO) Gas and LD Gas for power generation, thereby helping in the reduction of Green House Gases Emission. The electricity generated from this power plant will be known as Green Power. Apart from various technical features, this plant will be environment friendly as it will control the plant effluent discharge with the help of Effluent Treatment Plant.
