Tata Steel observes World Disability Day

Tata Steel set out to create a memorable day for the specially-abled children on World Disability Day. For this, a sports day was organised by Corporate Sustainability Services today at Sir Dorabji Tata Park.

The event was organised in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry and local NGOs. The event attracted participation from a large number of schools, including National School of Blind, Cheshire Home, Parents Association of Jamshedpur for Handicapped Children, among others.

The sports event was strewn with a series of activities designed to invite participation from all children. Events like 100 m race, tricycle race, walk-race and others received a very favourable response. A large turnout of spectators at the ground reflected the anticipation with which this event was awaited.

Mr Bailey Bodhanwala was the chief guest at the event. He gave away the prizes to the winners of different activities. He also urged the children and their parents to move on in life with a firm step. A cultural function, performed by children of the participating schools, followed the sports event.

The event re-affirmed Tata Steel’s belief that nothing can stop a person from succeeding in life if one is determined and motivated. It is this message that the Company tried to instill in all the children and their parents through an exciting event.
