Tata Steel West Bokaro Division Honoured by National Energy Conservation Award by The President of India

West Bokaro Division of Tata Steel was awarded the second Prize of National Energy Conservation Award – 2007. This was in acknowledgement of its efforts in Energy Conservation in Mining Sector. This prestigious award was received by Mr. A K Ojha – General Manager, West Bokaro, Tata Steel from Her Excellency President of India Mrs. Pratibha Patil, in a function at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day. Tata Steel has been conferred with this honour and award, second consecutive year.

Also present on the occasion was the Honourable Minister for Power Mr. Sushil Kumar Shinde, Anil Razdan - Secretary; Ministry of Power, Senior Executives from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency and dignitaries from different corporate sectors.

This award is recognition for the various initiatives that West Bokaro division of Tata Steel has undertaken in the field of energy savings. To mention a few achievements of the West Bokaro in this respect are as follows -

  1. West Bokaro Division has fully mechanized Eco-Friendly open cast mines producing 5.5 MT Raw Coal per year

  2. The Division is also certified in Environment Management System ISO-14001 (first in coal industries)

  3. Indira Priyadarshini Vriksha Mitra Award

  4. OHSAS (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) 18001

  5. Numerous awards in different areas like Safety, Quality and Customer orientation
