Tata Steel Launches Vocational Training Programme for its Steel Plant in Chhattisgarh

Jagdalpur, April 06, 2006

In line with it's rehabilitation package, Tata Steel will launch a programme of vocational training for the people affected by the proposed steel plant. The training programme will provide an opportunity to young men and women to acquire technical skills and take advantage of job opportunities coming up during construction of the steel plant.

The company intends to start the first batch of training on April 14, 2006. To begin with training will be provided in masonry, welding and electrical trade. The duration of the training programme will be three months. Training for masonry will be arranged in Lohandiguda Block. Training in other trades will be arranged at Jagdalpur.

First preference will be given to project affected families losing more than 75% of their land, who are between 18 and 30 years of age.

The application forms are available at ‘Janpad’ Office and with ‘Sarpanches’ of affected villages. Applications form gives details of eligibility for different trades. A counseling centre is also being set up at Lohandiguda Block to provide information and guidance in selections of trades. Last date for submitting application is April 12, 2006

It is hoped that people will take full advantage of this opportunity to acquire useful skills and become employable.
