| A poignant moment before the commencement of the oration |
"It is the notion of service to
others, even to the extent of giving oneself completely that underlines the life-style of
all great Christians. And it is this ideal that the Church offers to all corporate
personnel for their own fulfillment, he shared.
Established in 1991 the XLRI J R D Tata
Foundation for Ethics in Business epitomises XLRIs long-standing commitment and
contribution to business ethics in India. It seeks to underscore the urgent need for
ethics in business and to bring about an appropriate culture in which it can thrive.

| J R D Tatas legacy remembered on every month of Birth Centenary |
2004 is a very special year for the
Tata Group. It marks the Birth Centenary of Bharat Ratna J R D Tata. Therefore, on the
29th of every month, to mark the day he was born, i.e., 29th July, every department in the
company undertakes special community linked initiatives to remember one who loved his
country intensely.
Basic Health Care, a service J R D Tata
always believed India urgently needed, was the focus of activity on January 29, 2004
through Health Checkup camps conducted by the Tata Steel Rural Development Society. Nearly
600 women underwent health checkups for common ailments and gynaecological problems. All
medicines were distributed free of cost at the camps.
