The buoyant production performance of Tata Steel in the nine months of FY 07 have built up the necessary steam and momentum to make it close in on yet another year of record-breaking performance. Both production and sales volumes of hot metal at 4.1 million tonnes and crude steel at 3.7 million tonnes (MT) were significantly higher, as compared to the corresponding period of last year. tonnes. Total Sales went up by 11.70% to touch 3.532 MT.
The Company’s market share in its focus segments, is driving up the momentum for growth. In the Long Products segment, sale of “Tata Tiscon” increased by 50% with the market share of the Company in the rebar segment registering a 9% growth, as compared to the corresponding period last year. By March 2007, the Company expects the cumulative volume of Tata Shaktee to reach 1 million tonnes since its launch in February 2000. |
Tata Steel’s share of the Automotive Sector also grew during the year, with the Company expected to register a market share of 43% in FY 07 as against 41% in FY 06. This will allow the Company to realise an increase in sale of 0.85 million tonnes with a growth of 29%.
The Company’s management of its customers, its products quality and product consistency during the year was rewarded by leading buyers with awards, including those from Hyundai, Honda Motorcycle, TVS and Whirlpool. |
