Equestrian Games to Jharkhand again

After the extremely successful management of the Jharkhand Equestrian Games in 2002, the Equestrian Federation of India, the nodal organisation for controlling and regulating Equestrian Games in the country, added the Jharkhand Equestrian Games for the second year to its annual calendar for such games across the country.

With the active encouragement of Deputy Managing Director, Corporate Services, Mr A N Singh the Tata Steel Officers’ Beach Club, Jamshedpur had approached the EFI to hold the Games in Jamshedpur in 2002. The Club runs a Horse Riding School in the steel city for the officers and families of the company and its associates. These facilities are also

available after special approval to citizens of the steel city. On December 20 and 21, 2003 contingents from the President’s Bodyguards, Border Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, ASC (North), Tollygunge Club and other reputed organisations competed in a number of events, which included categories for ladies and children. Prior to the Games, a curtain raiser was held at the Horse Riding School for the children.

Watching the top riders of the country was a treat for the entire steel city. At the same time, it enthused young riders to excel.

The Games were jointly inaugurated by Maj Gen B J Gupta, G O C (23rd Infantry Division) and the Managing Director, Mr B Muthuraman. Also present was Col. V P Kapre of the Equestrian Federation of India. He headed the Technical Committee for the Games. In what is now seen as an ideal opportunity for each state to
