Jamshedpur, September 28, 2005 Tata Steel (based on Application
submitted by Information Technology Services) made it to the final in two categories: Best
It Governance and Best Security Strategy and is the winner in the category of BEST IT
GOVERNANCE. There were 15 more winners in other categories from Singapore, Hongkong, China
and India. In all 97 entries were received from, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, India,
Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia and even Japan.
The entries were judged 12 judges (only CIOs and analysts) came from all over Asia. The
winners were announced by Mr John Lui Editor, MIS Asia during MIS Asia IT Excellence
Awards function held at the Grand Hyatt Singapore on September 22, 2005. and was received
by Mr V P Srivastava , Head IT(Technology and Project Consulting) , ITS, Tata Steel from
the Guest of Honour: Mr Boon Swan Foo, Managing Director of Singapore's Agency for
Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR).
The Best It Governance looks at value/contribution of technology to corporate
governance, creating frameworks to track and measure the value of IT. It also looks at how
portfolio management is used to evaluate, prioritise and select IT-projects based on their
risks and contribution to the business.
The Best Security Strategies category looks for IT teams with sound security
enforcement policies as well as an ability to innovate in managing security risks and
reducing the workload associated with patching servers and desktops. Managing Information
Strategies (MIS) is about providing management information for senior IT professionals.
The content is about business rather than technology, analysis rather than news, strategy
rather than product, users rather than vendors, and more importantly, about IT executives
becoming better managers..
