Tata Steels leadership system has two dimensions the
"Visionary" and the "Architectural".
The Visionary dimension encourages people to envision, empowers them
and energises them to achieve superior performance.
The Architectural dimension is an enabler and includes processes,
policies, systems, strategies and measures that support and enhance superior performance.

Policies and systems guide Sustainability
At the heart of Tata Steels leadership system are stakeholder
expectations. These stakeholder requirements drive all leadership actions.
The Company has evolved policies on various sustainability concerns,
which guide its leadership. The Tata Code of Conduct laying down clear guidelines on each
issue. The Code stipulates, "A Tata Company shall be committed in all its actions to
benefit the economic development of the countries in which it operates and shall not
engage in any activity that would adversely affect such objective."
Tata Steel became a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact in
1998 and abides by its rules and principles, which address Human Rights, Labour Rights,
the Environment and Anti-corruption. Tata Steel is a member company of the Brussels-based
International Iron & Steel Institute (IISI) and tabulates sustainability indicators as
per its guidelines. The Company follows the Global Reporting Initiatives guidelines for
Sustainability reporting.
Tata Steel also subscribes to the guidelines of the Tata Council of Community
Initiatives, which places the community at the centre of its core values.
