A  50-50 joint venture between L&T and Tata Steel.

The Dhamra Port Project will be a major enabler for the economic development of Orissa and the adjoining regions. The port construction and operation will create employment opportunities for the people of the region. The Dhamra port, its associated roadways and railways will strengthen the availability of industrial infrastructure in Orissa. As a result, many other industries will be attracted to the state of Orissa because of the logistic cost benefits of the port.

The proposal envisages development of an all weather deep-water port for handling bulk cargo with a maximum capacity of 25 million tonnes. The project is expected to commence operations in December 2007.The port proposes to develop material storage yard, associated mechanized material handling facilities and construction of 62-kilometer private rail link between the port site and SER network at Bhadrak.
